1. Do you offer tile samples?
Yes we do offer tile samples. It is available in store or we can deliver it to you at a minimal price.
2. Benefits of tiles compared to other flooring materials?
Tiles have been used over the decades. There are many benefits of using tiles. Ceramic, Porcelain or Natural Stone that are properly installed will have a much longer life span, compared to flooring materials. They are much easier to maintain overtime. Tiles are also hypoallergenic so it will not collect bacteria or germs comapred to other flooring materials.
3. Difference between Ceramic and Porcelain Tile?
Porcelain tiles are denser and less porous than Ceramic Tiles.
This would mean Porcelain tiles are much more durable and are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. The extra density is a result of a slightly different manufacturing process. It has a water absorption rate of ≤0.5%, which makes it more impervious to moisture. Ceramic tiles are advisable to use indoors, e.g.toilets and kitchen. It is easier to cut and shape compared to Porcelain Tiles. Ceramic tiles are cheaper then Porcelain tiles.
5. Difference between Glazed Porcelain and Polished Porcelain Tiles?
Glazed Porcelain Tiles have a layer of glazed on top of the tile. The surface is mostly matt finished or textured finished. Polished Tile will have a shiny and gloss finished layer to the tile.
4. What is Homogeneous Tiles?
The colours of full body homogeneous tiles run uniformly through its entire thickness. Homogeneous tile will not expose a clay base when chipped. In addition, it is good for skirting when you RE the tile. The cost difference varies, as full body homogenous tiles will cost more then the other range.
6. Quantity of tiles to order?
We recommend getting 5-10% extra tiles, as some tiles may chip or break whie installing. Several pieces of reserved tiles should be kept for future rectification works.
7. Can wall tiles be installed on floors?
Wall tiles are not suitable to install on floors as they can’t bear much weight. They are not manufatured to withstand excessive impact.
8. Is overlaying of tiles possible?
Yes it it possible to overlay. But we have to take into consideration the condition of the tiles. If the tiles are old and you suspect it to be hollow, it may pop up overtime which will cause greater damage.
